Would You Try This? Live Snail Facial

Have you heard about the latest beauty craze? Snail slime facials. Yep, the snail facial has people talking! I’m going to try it. Watch the video after the cut

It is the use of live snails—whose secretions are said to contain proteins, powerful antioxidants and hyaluronic acid which help plump and protect the skin. Snail mucus is also said to have anti-aging properties, help soothe inflammation, and heals damaged skin—especially from sunburns.

Beauty products containing snail slime aren’t anything completely new, but would you skip the middle man and put actual live snails on your face?

According to a doctor, “researchers found that after three months, those who were in contact with snails on their facial skin did show improvements on their skin appearance. Additionally, studies examining the snail secretion have found antioxidants and other factors that can promote wound healing in skin cells in the laboratory.”

OK, so it seems to actually be effective but should we start lurking in our gardens for better skin? “Generally speaking, certain plant-derived antioxidants have also been shown to promote wound healing,” the doctor explains again.

What’s the wackiest beauty treatment you’ve ever tried?
